Planning a Disney Cruise is always exciting, but what about a short three-night sailing? Is it worth your time and money? We just sailed on the Disney Wish out of Port Canaveral for three nights after spending three days at Walt Disney World, and I’m sharing everything we loved — and what we didn’t — to help you decide if a weekend cruise is right for you and your crew.
Our Trip Overview
We paired a three-day Disney World ticket deal with a three-night Disney Wish cruise. To save more, we booked a Guaranteed Stateroom, which means you choose the category (inside, ocean view, or veranda) but Disney assigns your exact room. It’s usually discounted compared to picking your stateroom, it worked perfectly for us, but it might not be for everyone..
Our sailing included one day at sea and one day at Castaway Cay. Since this was our first time on the Wish, we actually shortened our beach time to get back onboard and explore more of the ship. Many of these three night sailings will include a day at Castaway and a day in Nassau. If that’s the sailing you choose, I would strongly recommend skipping Nassau to get in more time on the ship.

The Good
- Perfect for locals: There are tons of weekend sailings from Port Canaveral which make it easy to fit into your schedule.
- Great for first-time cruisers: If you’re curious about cruising, this is the perfect low-commitment way to try it out.
- Great add-on to Disney World: After three hot park days, the cruise gave us a much-needed chance to slow down. Port Canaveral is an easy 1 hr drive from Disney World and you can even book your transport through Disney.
- Dining: Three night gives you a chance to rotate through all three restaurants and we even had time to enjoy Enchante for an adult-only meal.
- Kids’ clubs: The teen club was a hit, though three nights didn’t give as much time for the kids to make connections.
Did you know that if you book your Disney cruise through me you will save even more? That’s right! For cruises booked through me, I offer an onboard credit that can be as much as $1000! This will help cover your ship expenses like gratuities and spa services. Message me today to get your planning started!
The Bad
- It feels short: Three nights go by quickly! You went have a lot of downtime to relax and totally unwind.
- Missed experiences: The Wish is a huge ship. Because it was our first time onboard, we spent a lot of time exploring, which meant we missed things like the spa.
- Port day balance: On short cruises, you may want to spend more time onboard instead of ashore. We cut our Castaway day shorter to do just that.

The Ugly
The truth is, you need to set expectations. On a three-night cruise, you won’t get to do everything — and that’s okay. A 3 night cruise is more of a sampling of cruising. The best advice? Board as early as you can on embarkation day, because every hour counts.
Our Final Take
So, is a three-night Disney Cruise worth it? Yes — as long as you go in with the right mindset. It’s perfect for locals, first-timers, or families looking to pair it with a Disney World trip. For us, it was the ideal combination: three days in the parks, three nights at sea, and a week full of Disney memories.
