Disney vacations are magical and memorable but also require a solid amount of preparation. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first trip or your twentieth, taking the right items can make all the difference in what kind of trip you have. In this post, I’ll walk you through the must have essentials that Amazon will deliver to your doorstep to help you be prepared for your Disney trip.

Ziptop bags – Ziptop bags are a great choice to take on any vacation but they are especially great for a Disney vacation. I recently transitioned to reusable ziptop bags to be more environmentally friendly and because of their durability. I use 2 different sizes of bags for my park bag. In the gallon size bags I carry things like my extra ears (yes, I’ve been known to switch mid-day), or our ponchos. In the smaller, quart size bags I’ll carry things like medicines and my portable charger. Pro tip: ALWAYS carry your portable charger in a zip top bag. Your park bag may get wet on rides or a sudden rain shower and if your charger gets wet it could be ruined. Trust me, you don’t want to be stuck at the park without a way to charge your phone.
Rain Gear – Rain showers in Florida are a common occurrence and are likely to be a part of your Disney vacation. Being prepared for those showers can make all the difference in your Disney day. There are a few different options for rain gear you can take to Disney. Ponchos are my rain gear of choice because they are inexpensive and easy to throw in your bag. If you aren’t into ponchos, you can take a normal rain jacket or an umbrella. If you’re trying to get as much Disney theming into your trip as possible this Disney umbrella could be a great
option. If you want a rain jacket that will easily fit into your park bag, check out this compact option. This jacket even comes with a storage bag to make it easy to carry in your bag or even on the outside of your bag with a carabiner. Tennis Skirt – Being comfortable during your Disney day is a key piece of having a great day. I recently discovered tennis skirts as a great option for staying comfortable at Disney. I wore this skirt on our last trip and loved it! This one is comfy, has shorts under and the shorts include a pocket for your phone which was incredibly handy.
Running Shorts – These running shorts have made multiple Disney trips with me and never disappoint. What makes these shorts a great option for Disney is the flat waist band and quick dry fabric. The waistband on these shorts lays flat and doesn’t gather in dramatically so it won’t cut into your sides. The quick dry fabric is great for if you get wet on a ride or if you get caught in one of those rain showers.

Cooling accessories – The Florida heat definitely can be trying to deal with during a long Disney day. Having a few accessories to help you stay cool will help keep your whole crew happier and ready to enjoy that magic. Cooling towels are a very popular option and one that frequently accompany my crew. These are easy to pack, easy to refresh and don’t need batteries which make them an excellent option. Other options include neck fans or spray bottle fans. The spray bottle fans are very refreshing because of their cool misting effect. If you go the route of the fans, make sure to put some extra batteries in your park bag. You don’t want to have a dead fan just when it gets to the hottest part of the day.
Pool bag – Chances are you’ll be spending a lot of time at the pool on your Disney vacation. Having a great day at the pool includes having and easy way to carry everything you need. This bag is my top choice for a few reasons. It has a zipper top so that all of your items can be secured. Also, this bag has outside pockets all the way around the bag. These are perfect for providing easy access to things like water bottles, sunscreen, or your phone. The final thing that I love about this bag is the zipper pocket on the outside. With this pocket you can have easy access to things like your keys or room key while also keeping them secure. If you are pressed for space in your bags you can always throw in this mesh drawstring bag to use as your pool bag. It will still allow you to get all of your things back and forth to the pool and is vented so that you can carry wet items.
Metal water bottle – Taking a water bottle to the parks is a great way to save time and money. With this you won’t be taking time to look for a place to get a drink and you won’t have to spend $3-5 per bottle to have water. A good metal water bottle will keep your water nice and cold all day which will so refreshing in the Florida heat. This one from Tervis is my favorite right now! I love the more subtle Disney theming plus it is very durable and water stays cold for a very long time. I also love this model because it doesn’t have a straw, so you don’t have to worry about cleaning or losing a straw.
Pro tip: If you want to have a cute souvenir that won’t cost you any more money and will actually be useful when you get home, you can have the characters you meet sign your water bottle. You will want to take a Sharpie with you if this is something you’re interested in. If you are taking a dark water bottle, this silver Sharpie is a great option. To all the parents reading this blog, a silver Sharpie is a great option to keep at home too. I’ve used mine so much over the years for things like writing the kid’s names on dark backpacks or jackets.

Comfortable shoes – Did you know you will probably walk 15,000 – 25,000 steps a day on your Disney vacation? Comfortable shoes will be a key piece of having a great vacation. My top choices for shoes to wear to the parks are either a very comfortable sandal or a great running shoe. I am currently loving these two strap sandals from Crocs which you can even add some Disney fun to with their
Disney Jibbitz. My current favorite running shoe to take to the park are these Nike free running shoes. These are light weight, easy to pack and will keep your feet comfy all day. Park Bag – What kind of bag you want to take to the park is something to think about before you go. If you are taking a family trip, especially with younger kids, a full-size backpack will probably be your bag of choice. For years I carried a full-sized backpack to the parks so that we could take everything we needed plus have room for jackets, souvenirs etc… I carry a Nike backpack very similar to this one. It has held up well over the years, has plenty of pockets and has straps that are very comfortable. If you are traveling with older kids or taking a trip with a smaller crew, you might be able to downsize your park bag. Loungefly bags are a very popular option because of all of the different theming you can find. I recently downsized to this large belt bag. This proved to be a great size on our last trip. It was enough room for ponchos, sunglasses, small sunscreen and a wallet while also being a lot easier to get on and off of rides with that the full-sized backpack. For a solo trip, I would recommend a small belt bag. These are handy for everyday use and make a fantastic park bag. This bag is so lightweight and easy to carry. The strap is fully adjustable to fit however loosely you want to wear it. This bag is also easy to throw in washing machine if it should happen to get dirty.

Charging accessories – You absolutely do not want to go to the parks without a portable charger for your phone! Between using the My Disney Experience app and taking pictures, you will use your phone a ton during your Disney day. Having your phone available is crucial for things like communicating with your group, booking Lightning Lanes and using mobile ordering. This Anker battery is my favorite to take to the park. What I like about this model is that it plugs directly into the wall, takes USB and USB-c cords, and can charge multiple things at once. Don’t forget that you will also need to take your charging cord with you. Taking a cord with an adaptable end will allow you to just pack one cord and meet your needs for several different types of devices.
