Are you thinking about taking your crew to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World? This spooktacular event is packed with family-friendly fun, and we’re here to give you all the details to make the most of your visit. From tickets to costumes, and from treats to entertainment, we’ve got you covered.
What is Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party?
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a special event held at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World, typically running from mid-August through Halloween. It’s an after-hours party with exclusive entertainment, trick-or-treating, and themed attractions. The best part? It’s designed to be fun without the frights, making it perfect for guests of all ages.
When to Go
The party takes place on select nights, so it’s important to check the schedule. Earlier dates tend to be less crowded than those closer to Halloween. 2024 party dates run August 9th through October 31st. Weeknights also generally have fewer guests than weekends. If you are hoping to go close to Halloween you will want to purchase tickets very early as these tickets are likely to sell out months in advance.
Tickets
Tickets for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party are sold separately from regular park admission and range from $119 – $199 per person. It’s a good idea to buy your tickets in advance, as some nights do sell out. Prices vary depending on the date, with tickets usually more expensive closer to Halloween. The party is from 7 p.m. to midnight. Typically they will start allowing party guests to enter the park around 4:00.

Wristbands
When you enter the party, every member of your crew will be given a wristband. You will need to wear this wristband for the duration of the party. If you enter before 7:00, cast members will be very diligent about checking for wristbands when 7:00 comes and they are clearing out non-party guests. If you have been in the park during the day on a standard ticket, you don’t have to exit and re-enter. You can find wristband stations like the one above throughout the park and get your wristband there.
Costumes
One of the highlights of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is the opportunity to dress up in your favorite costumes! Both kids and adults are encouraged to get into the spirit, but there are some guidelines to keep in mind:
- Costumes should be family-friendly and not obstructive, offensive, or violent.
- Small masks are allowed for guests 13 and under, as long as they don’t cover the entire face and eyes are visible. Masks should not obstruct peripheral vision.
- For guests over 14, costumes should not contain layers that could conceal prohibited items, and capes cannot be longer than the waist.
- For a full list of costume guidelines click here to visit the official Disney site.
Trick-or-Treating
Get ready to gather a serious candy stash! Trick-or-Treating is available at multiple locations across the park. Disney will provide you with a bag to collect your goodies and a map to show you where the candy stations are. As you wander throughout the park, keep your eyes open for markers like you see below. These blow-up pillars are used so that you can easily spot the candy distribution stations. The party is typically sponsored by Mars so that is the brand of candy they will be giving out. If someone in your crew has food allergies, there are allergy free candy stations that you can find on the map or ask a cast member for where they are located.

Entertainment
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party features exclusive entertainment that you won’t want to miss:
- Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade: A parade featuring your favorite Disney characters in Halloween costumes, along with appearances by the Haunted Mansion’s Hitchhiking Ghosts and other spooky characters. This parade is typically kicked off with a ride-through by the headless horseman but beware that he only rides when the weather is favorable. Several of the characters participation in the parade is weather dependent so it would be prudent not to make any promises to your little ones about who they will see in the parade.
- Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular: A live show in front of Cinderella Castle starring the Sanderson Sisters from “Hocus Pocus” along with various Disney villains. This show will take place at multiple times during every party and if you are able to stay for the later show times the crowds will likely be lower.
- Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular: A fireworks show that lights up the night sky with Halloween-themed pyrotechnics and projections. This spooky show hosted by Jack Skellington takes place at 10:00 every party but is weather dependent.

Rides and Attractions
Most of the park’s popular rides are open during the party, and some even get a special Halloween twist. For example:
- Space Mountain goes completely dark for a more thrilling ride.
- Pirates of the Caribbean may feature live actors adding to the pirate adventure. Be forewarned that this is subject to change. When we attended the party in 2023, this did not happen.
- Mad Tea Party has special lighting and music effects for the party.
Food and Drinks
Special Halloween-themed treats are available throughout the park. From spooky cupcakes to pumpkin-flavored delights, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to try some of the exclusive snacks and drinks that are only available during the party. The party snack guide will usually be released shortly before the party season begins and you can preview that on Disney’s website.
Characters
The Halloween party brings out opportunities to meet characters you will rarely see in the parks. 2024’s party announcement came with the promise of more villains than ever before, so if you’re a villain fan this could be the perfect event for you. One of the top character meet and greets for this party is Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas. This meet and greet will have an incredibly long line and if this is a must do for your crew, I would recommend getting in line as soon as you enter the park.
Photo Opportunities
There are many unique photo opportunities during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, including character meet and greets with rarely seen Disney characters and special Magic Shots by Disney PhotoPass photographers. To take full advantage of this, you will need to watch out the photographers and hop in line when you see them.
Tips for a Spooktacular Time
- Arrive Early: Although the party officially starts in the evening, ticket holders can enter the Magic Kingdom as early as 4 PM. Magic Kingdom will typically have a lower crowd during the day on party days so this can be a great way to make the most of your party ticket by enjoying the shorter ride wait times from 4-7.
- Plan Your Night: Make a list of must-see shows and character meet-and-greets. The party goes by quickly, so prioritize your activities. Remember to be flexible with this! You are likely to run short in time or things may change so make sure to start with your highest priority items.
- Rest up or plan a relaxing day after: Your party night will be jam packed with activity and will probably be a late night. The party ends at midnight and transportation back to your resort may take longer than normal due to the party crowds. Your crew may be extra tired the next day so it is a great opportunity to have a resort day.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a fantastic way to celebrate Halloween with your crew. From the festive costumes to the delightful treats and spectacular entertainment, it’s an experience you won’t forget. Plan ahead, have fun, and enjoy all the spooky moments that this party has to offer.
